The family – Whitney, Katie, and Nicholas – and I live in the town of Wellesley in the western suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. Most of my time outside of work involves my family, although I am involved in several non-profit organizations. Both children and I are working toward our black belts in Tae Kwon Do, and the entire family enjoys outdoor activities including hiking.
Whitney and I met while growing up in Pittsburgh, and she followed me to Japan after we were married. Three years later we relocated to Switzerland, where our daughter Katie was born in May 1999. After six years of expatriate life we moved to Massachusetts, where Nicholas was born in March 2002. Whitney works part time at Little Bits, a local family owned toy store, and is also a co-leader of Katie’s girl scout troop.
My family and I are members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Newton Lower Falls, Massachusetts. St. Mary’s was founded in 1813 and is the oldest church in the western suburbs of Boston. I served on the church board from 2003 until early 2010 and was both Junior Warden (Vice-President) and Senior Warden (President). I continue to be involved in the international outreach and especially on-going support for relief and economic development efforts in El Salvador.
I grew up in “Little” Washington, Pennsylvania, where my family still lives. Whitney was also raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but her parents now live in Wellfleet, Massachusetts where they own and operate the Oyster Cove Bed and Breakfast. Both os us are both graduates of Carnegie-Mellon University – I graduated from the electrical engineering department, and Whitney was an industrial management major. I also received my MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
