Heifer International

Heifer InternationalThree months ago my nine-year old son Nicholas decided that he would save his allowance for three months to purchase a trio of rabbits for a family in the third world.  Today was the day that he (we) were able to make the donation.

You can learn more about the program at Heifer International – it is very well regarded and a great way to promote self sufficiency thru economic development.

Boston’s Freedom Trail and Minuteman National Park

My brother came in to town this past weekend for the Veterans Day holiday weekend.  We decided to see some of the historic sites of the American Revolutionary War on Boston’s Freedom Trail and Minuteman National Park, including the Old North Church (of “one if by land, two if by sea” fame), Paul Revere’s House, and the battlegreens at both Lexington and Concord (“the shot heard round the world”).

By the way, there were two candles lit on the night of April 18, 1775, since the British crossed into Cambridge by sea.
